The Burning Room Fourth Willows Acceptance

The Willows have accepted another one of my weird tales. This one is a little different, in that it's not in any way a homage to Mr Lovecraft, or for that matter to anyone. Instead its an earnest attempt at an old-style ghost story, set around the turn of the last century. It's called The Burning Room - which actually, now that I think about it, is a nod to H. G. Wells's wonderful The Red Room. But that's as far as it goes, I swear!

Anyway, thanks as always to The Willows
, and expect to see it early in the new year.

Peachy - Murky Depths Sale

A bit of good news from the end of last month that I didn't have time to post then - Excellent UK horror magazine Murky Depths have accepted my flash piece Peachy. This is a particularly nice sale for me because Peachy is chronologically the earliest of my stories that I've dared send out, dating from about thirteen years ago to the best of my recollection. Of course it's been through a fair few drafts since then, and a large part of the credit for it reaching publishable form must go to my ever-patient friend and critic Rafe, and Jake Freivald and staff at Flash Fiction Online, for some excellent feedback.

It's scheduled for issue seven - that is, the issue after next - so look for it some time early in the new year.
